Question 1:
The film discussed how homosexuals were portrayed in film because they are arguing that showing homosexuals in a certain way makes people think they are really like that. If every gay person you ever see is in a movie and they are all mentally ill or crazy, you may think this is an accurate depiction of how gay people really are. This is how stereotypes are formed.
Do you think there are any stereotypes that are common in American film or television in how Chinese people are portrayed? You can consider both positive and negative stereotypes.
Answer:How Chinese people are portrayed in American film or television. In general, foreigner think Chinese people to be equal to China people. They can't recognize Taiwan and China people. Therefore, foreigner described Chinese people always wear cheongsam and has a small eyes. And Chinese people spoke in Beijing or Shanghai. Importantly, most of foreigner films always like to make a caricature of Chinese people in culture.
