Issue: The Organ Donation Issues
>> Friday, October 10, 2008
Today, I read an article in the magazine about organ donation. The article describes many different viewpoints, such as "should I have the right to choose the person who I want to donate my organs", "Is it fair to exclude people with developmental disabilities", and "whether to permit patients to solicit donors from the Internet". These issues involve many people, donors, patients, doctors, psychologists, and ethicists are also very important. Thus, when one wants to donate his organs is not only about himself, the action will influence a lot of people. That's why donation always be discussed by many people. In this article, it says most people think they own their body, including the organs so they can decide the one who they want to donate.
A large number of people wait for a life-sustaining transplant every year. From my opinion, I approve anyone can donate their organs but I disapprove to buy and sell human organs. Because to trade in organ donation, it will lead to vulnerable people be exploited by others. I support government to set the system to pay a fixed price to donors. I think it is more fair for donors and patients.
